New Zealand day 39 - 42 Abel Tasman

Abel Tasman Coast track day 1 of 4

Start of the track at Marahau
What a day! It rains and it rains and it rains and it rains, o wait, it is a day with heavy showers! That there is a lot of rain, okay. But even a bad weather day in the Netherlands isn’t comparable with this kind of rain and yeah…  It rains at least 24 hours without any stop! Welcome to the southern part of New Zealand! I am wet like a seal and you can see that I try to act like a seal as well although I also try to get the sun back with my yellow suit. It doesn’t  work and almost everything become wet. My sleeping bag is dry and I am the happiest man on earth to sleep in an dry sleeping bag in a tent. Ow.. I am totally forgot to tell about the tent. I am setting the tent up in the heavy showers and it isn’t fun to set up your tent up in a forest where it rains and you are very wet as well! I am thinking in possibilities and positive ways and I set up the tent. After that I am going to sleep and I want to go for the next days, which has a better forecast.

Look at me and the pictures... It looks like that there are heavy showers! (This is a day with 150 ml rain that drops... if you can't imagine it than think about a normally bad weather day that it rain the whole day and there is falling 10 ml of rain)

It is a tough day! I am definitely wet!
The low-tide crossing in bad weather at Torrent Bay!

A bay with nice beach!

Abel Tasman Coast track day 2 of 4

start of an amazing weather day!
What a awful day to start.. So everything is wet except my sleeping bag. And if I am looking at the clouds then it will be good weather at 12 o’clock. So I start to walk in the rain at 9.30 am! I have the feeling to quit with the track because everything is wet and I haven’t got any dry clothes. Then it is still raining. But foolish and stubborn I am I just keep on going and I will see the benefits of the rain. I will see it as a refreshment!  I walk this day on my own and it feels like my own hiking track! This is feeling great and I can enjoy more of the walking coast track! After two and half hours walking I am able to see and feel the sun! It is very warm! That is a big difference with the day before! Thus I enjoy and appreciate this day more! Only I have some problems with my photo camera! But not only with my photo camera! I demolish my shoes and my flip flops on this day trip at a low tide crossing. The photo camera has to dry and then he will make nice pictures. So I have to wait that the camera is warm and than he is working very well after two hours walking in the sun he is working!  And then I have some pictures of golden beaches, low tides crossing and bushes and my camp side! Today I have done everything on own.  Once I have arrived the camp side it will feel like a victory and I eat on a GOLD beach, my reward!
After 3 hours walk the weather is changing dramatically!
Just a nice bay afer Torrent Bay

The walking track!
A nice view!
The start of the first low-tie crossing!

Hmm... What I am going to
do? I will cross by my own!

Here I am the handsome Man! My Gold-Medal! Golden Beach!

The walking track!

Use the weather conditions
to dry everything what is wet

My reward after a long time walk, DINER!

Abel Tasman Coast track day 3 of 4

second gorgeous day!
What a walking track, wow! Nice beaches and nice views! The smallest national park of New Zealand with heaps of nature differences I just become silence of the nature impressions! A highlight point on this track is separation point! I have fully reception on my mobile phone. This was fun because I received a very nice and very pretty text message from Marit!  I then went  to the Whariwharangi hut to set up my tent for the third time! This time I’m not alone on the camp side, so I felt more comfortable!  Tomorrow I have to walk for 2 hours and than I will go back to the hostel Tasman Bay Backpackers with their delicious desert, chocolate pudding!

At separation point where the wind almost blew my camera away!
The way to separation point!

Separation Point, do you see it?

What a nice view, I couldn't get my hands off my camera!
What should I say? I am speechless!

A nice camping side at the beach!

A bridge crossing!

Abel Tasman Coast track day 4 of 4
Last day and look how lucky I am!

After one and a half hour walking I am reaching the bus. After this I will get back in Nelson and I will relax! I have made some nice pictures and I need some new shoes! So that’s what I am going to do tomorrow!

The last view on GOLDEN BAY

The storm ruined a lot of the bushes but it is still a nice view!

Golden bay again where you can see a part of the heaphy track, but I don't know for sure!
If you are travelling alone, you have always friends! Because the nature will keep an eye on you!  So you are never alone when you are travelling and you will have and get friends on your journey! Thanks Birdie!
